What was your first big trip away from your parents? For my thirteen-year-old, Betsy, it’s tomorrow. She’s heading to Washington, D.C., with most of her classmates and zero parents. I’m sure she’ll miss us terribly, by which I mean she’ll immediately forget we exist. In my mind, BSA summer camp was a bigger deal since she spent a full week away from me and Lola, but we were still within easy driving distance. This time, we’ll be separated by multiple states plus a mount range. For Betsy, that’s probably still not enough of a barrier. She’s definitely a teenager. So what was your first big trip away from your parents? Sound off in the comments.
