What's your best school project horror story? My twelve-year-old, Betsy, has had a string of poster board assignments in the last few weeks. The most recent one required her to make an "unhealthy" food healthy. I can't begin to tell you how loaded those two terms are. At least she didn't wait until the night before it was due. She waited until three nights before, at which point it was too late to order the specialty ingredients she needed. More than a few panicked substitutions were made. Based on the complaints I saw on Facebook, her classmates—and, more importantly, their parents—were going through the same drama. Assigning school projects should be punishable by prison time. Any politician who supports that has my vote.
