What's something that caused you to be irrationally terrified when you were a kid? We had an incident at a museum in Chicago this weekend that may have scarred my ten-year-old for life. If it doesn't end in therapy, was it even really a family vacation? I'll write more about that on Friday.
In the meantime, I want to hear about your own childhood traumas. For me, it was a show on the Discovery Channel called Haunting and Connecticut. It was a “documentary” that covered the supposedly true story of a Catholic family that moved into a former funeral home. What could possibly go wrong? Looking back as an adult, it was really the story of how a family dealt with a mentally ill teenager. But as a kid, I definitely believed it was a real, super specific haunting that targeted a family just like mine. After seeing it, I was afraid of the dark for months.
