Ah, almost there! I root for this lady's speedy recovery, Onyx finally being transferred to a new place and all ending up well for everyone involved. Also, thanks to Lola for being so patient with him!
The length of Onyx's tenure at your home and the mentioning of Lola retelling health-related events of your life made me remember the intensity of that time (as well as the lighter stories, like the one how you hurt your knee writing) and being on the edge of my seat, waiting on high alert to see what's in the posts and waiting for the next updates. I realised how intense the past few years have been for you and your family. Lola being there for you is very heartwarming to see and inspirational as to what true love should be. Hopefully, all your future stories are much calmer, coming from planned actvities and without "bumpy rides". But if Onyx's departure results in few epic drives to other states, like the bear and mountain lion did, I'm all in favour of it!
When I was writing the last part it struck me this July it's been four years since I became a paid subscriber and started writing comments, hence I want to thank you for being a huge part of my life from then on!
Thanks for sticking with me! I'm happier I've had a few years when I could write calmer stories where I don't come close to death. Hopefully the "interesting" times don't return.
Fingers crossed for Onyx getting to his new home!! And you'll be one animal closer to the empty house. I, on the other hand, just keep adding more. 🤷♀️🤦♀️
I feel your pain. My daughter has been dumping animals on me for 30 years. We are now down to a grumpy old cat and a middle aged velcro dog. Someday, the cat will cross the rainbow bridge. He hates the dog and torments him whenever possible. The dog is fortunately cute, which allows him to get away with many things. It's hard to resist sad dog eyes. I hope I never try to add up all the receipts from the groomer, the vet, and the dog sitter. He goes to the groomer once a month, the vet has operated on him 3 times. The anesthesia cost alone is enough to make me faint! The dog sitter adores him so she's worth the cost. I've told my daughter, NO MORE, time will tell.
Lola is a very patient woman. She should be nominated for sainthood. Hopefully Onyx will soon have his forever home where he can dominate all the other pigs.
I am looking forward to hearing Onyx is in a more suitable home - and that your wife is no longer having to put up with Onyx and the trouble he has caused. Lola has a special place in heaven for her patience! I will pray for the rescue owner's speedy recovery and an end to your chapter in the Onyx saga!
