Central Indiana has an abundance of many things. Corn. Screaming little girls. More corn. But one thing it doesn’t have is changes in elevation. My zip code is the only place in the world where you can claim the earth is flat and actually be right. Normally, I don’t mind the lack of hills, which are really just nature’s staircases, but I admit it’s a bit of a bummer in the winter. The only sledding we have here is the kind where you drag your kid across level ground like you’re a dog in the Iditarod. Never mind that actual Indiana dogs would never go outside to pull anything under any weather conditions. They’re the true leisure class. This weekend, though, I managed to help my kids do actual downhill sledding for the first time ever. What did they think of this once-in-a-lifetime experience?
