Totally agree it should be on Saturday. Stop giving the amateurs a reason to call off work on Monday. These are the same people who can’t work with a hangover.
I watched for the opening act, the half time show and the ads. It was sad to me that pesky football was in-between. I can only get into sports when I'm there in person. My favorite ad was Kurt Russell's.
Ooo, let me put you onto something good: Nufu.tv. An annual subscription is about $120 and it gives you all the MLB, NBA, NHL, and NFL games for all the teams for the year, plus some of the basic cable channels like CNN, USA, and the Weather Channel. I'm not sure how it's legal, but I've subscribed for a couple of years now and nobody's arrested me. It's a lifesaver for me, following the Astros, since I travel through much of baseball season and am not usually in my home market (and since you can't really hook up physical cable TV to an RV on the move).
I'm quite proud to say there has not been a sporting event shown in my home since my divorce. That's all my wusband watched, and I have decided to never watch again unless I have no choice. I do hear great things about Bad Bunny, though. Might have to find that on YouTube.
I enjoy the whole spectacle. The shows and the commercials were definitely better than the game this year. My daughter-in-law, who is not much of a sports fan, reposted someone saying "It's that time of year again where I have to pretend to like football so that I get invited to a party with snacks" 😊
If you want to try coming to a new sport, you definitely should try IndyCar. You have Indy500 in your backyard, and with some logistics you could pull out going to Gateway en route to St. Louis, Road America when with friends in Wisconsin, Mid-Ohio and with some more time even Downtown Detroit, to name what's not too far from Indianapolis and more or less during the kids' summer break.
And if you don't want to spend much money on the sport, you can follow it totally free the way I do - by reading the news on official website and extended 30 minutes highlights on the series' YouTube channel.
As for the game in Houston, that would be a tale worth of a newsletter or two, especially if you'd make it a longer trip and agreed to let Vivian Bush be your guide. I would definitely read about it had such voyage materialized!
Being a narrow-minded European, I care mainly about sports popular here. Just kidding, but throughout my life I paid attention to merely three activities, maybe four, some controversial to purists. These were football/soccer, ski jumping, Formula 1 (only in recent years expanded to motorsports in general) and e-sports (namely professional Counter-Strike). To the first and third I was brought up by my dad & rise of respectively Wisła Kraków and Robert Kubica, to the second by my mum and nationwide sensation of Adam Małysz, while the fourth was passed to me by my cousins.
But when it comes to emotional involvement, I'm very much like past you - either all in or not a at all. Same for news, but your advice from last June and stopped following politics intensely, which gave much more time for more pleasant activities. My dad had a phase of setting mood based on Wisła's performance only when it was severely defeated or allowed a rival to overturn a huge advantage - after such instances he banned any mention of the team for the following week. Sadly, you're right that it's easy to get mentally drained from too much reading of nasty forum users, even if it's not targeted at one's favourites. In recent years many communities became so hateful it's tough to share passion.
I completely understand the week-long moratoriums on sports talk. When you're totally invested, it's easier not to think about the bad loses. Hopefully your motorsport fandom is much less traumatic.
One of the good things about baseball is that the teams play pretty much every day, so even if they have a bad game, tomorrow's a new day. That works until they hit a losing streak or get eliminated from the playoffs.
My hometown was Baltimore, MD. It is still very difficult to forgive Bob Irsay’s undercover move of the Colts. No less in the middle of the night using Mayflower Moving trucks! Most of us knew the original players on and off the field and were regulars at their many restaurants and bars. Long before the move, we were watching them play at The Baltimore Stadium, (on real grass in the snow,) going back to 1966. That was real football to us. Even though the move took place a long time ago, the betrayal lingers!😂😂🏈💔
I’d like Lola’s recipe for chili cheese dip. The game was better than the usual superbowl game. I really wanted the Seahawks to win, and there was just enough back and forth to keep it interesting.

A big part of adulthood is working through your mistakes and then making them again.

The commercials were a bit of a let down this year. Same with the game. At least Sam Darnold got his revenge plot.

Wow, I've never heard of this, but i could be lifechanging!

It was a good performance. Definitely worth looking up.

All things are fair in the pursuit of snacks.
You guys still get a day off for Columbus Day?
Depends on the job and school district. It's a toss-up around here.

I'm very interested in going to the Indy500 at least once. I just need to figure out how to do it without getting stuck in traffic for three hours.
My daughter was in marching band all through high school, and did the Indy 500 parade every year. I still haven't been to the race.
As someone from nearby a city constantly affected by traffic, I very much understand the struggle.

We had a house full of family for the super bowl 🏈 lots of food, gambling/pool and kids.
We didn't really care/watch the game (or halftime show).
Next year go Bears 🏈

A block cream cheese, one can of no-bean chili, and half a cup shredded cheese. Melt it in the microwave. I recommend making a double batch.
Thank you! It sounds delicious!
