Wow, I feel for your family having what must feel like the plague and causing havoc in the planned weekend. Congrats to Betsy and her group. We were at a show choir competition hosted by friends' grandson's school and it was mighty impressive. It takes a combo of excellent song and choreography and costumes to come in first!

Hope this flu stuff is in and out soon so you can get "back to your regular programming"!

Yep, that norovirus is going around like crazy. My little family of 3 all had it in a row a couple weeks ago. Miserable. But it does run its course relatively quickly (like 48 hours). Hope the others can keep from getting it and hope the affected are all feeling better now. I can commiserate! It was not fun! Glad Lucy got some cool desserts and can do her ceremony after all! Love all the piggy stuff!

Jeez! I hope everyone is better now. I am thankful your germs aren't strong enough to travel to Tennessee.

Oh I am so sorry! But thank you for helping me to see the positives in my now empty nest.

I feel for you, Jim. As the mother of four (now grown) children, there's no Hell on earth worse than the one when "a bug" runs through the house. Everyone needs help, but no one's well enough to give it. I'm glad you're on the other side!

I'm lucky that the kids are big enough to make it to the toilet when they throw up. Way better than waking up in the middle of the night to clean it out of their beds. This feels like parenting in easy mode.

That was so sweet of the troop leader. I think Lucy will be in good hands.

Meanwhile, I think I'll go disinfect everything in sight.

Thanks for sharing the last paragraph - such attention to detail is … remarkable.

IMO stomach viruses are the worst. I hate having them and I hated when my kids had them. Last time one went through my daughter’s family she arranged an infirmary in her bathroom with a thick mattress on the floor and ready access to all the necessaries. One by one everyone took their turn in ICU til at last school and work and life could resume.

In our bathroom, we have a cedar chest with a cushion on top that serves the same purpose. The sickest kid gets the spot.

I hope the germs are out of your systems and your home very soon! Kudos to Betsy and her choir. Glad she didn’t get sick on her big day.

A few years ago, I had just recovered from a very nasty stomach bug when my daughter arrived home for spring break, bringing along a friend. Not long after arriving she began complaining of a stomachache. It wasn't long before she was paying tribute to the Great Porcelain God and the waste basket at the same time. Poor kid, the pain and nausea accompanying this bug was the worst. The bug lasts about 6 hours, but, soon you begin to feel that you might die, a bit later, you know that you are dying, and finally you are afraid that you won't die. When she was able to talk, my daughter wanted to know when she might feel better. I checked the clock and had to let her know that we were only 2 hours in and she had another 4 hours to go. I'm here today to tell the story because, she tried to kill me, but was too weak to follow through. Thankfully, her friend was able to trade off with me assisting the "sickie" when she needed help. Amazingly her friend never got the bug and the rest of their vacation went well.

"Afraid that you won't die" is a powerful line, and, in this case, entirely too accurate.

Ugg. It’s going around everywhere. I was sick but not with the stomach thing (type A) thank god. Also, I’m here to verify that you DO get weaker as you get older. I’m 67 and now have old people arthritis in both my hands. Opening anything? Nope. I have a few gadgets to help but mostly I relay on the other three folks who live here. I saw the comic so know you guys are better. Nasty shit, no pun intended. Well, yeah. It was.
