In these uncertain times, the only certainty is that everyone will start their emails with “in these uncertain times.” Like everyone else, my wife Lola and I have been surrounded by uncertainty regarding our jobs. We’re fortunate that we’ve both been able to work from home, but we could be notified at any moment that we have to go back to business as usual. For Lola, that would be a dream come true. Apparently science is easier to do in a lab than on the couch surrounded by four kids and two pigs. The person who doesn’t want to be bothered is always the most fascinating one in the house. For me, on the other hand, reporting back to the office would be a nightmare. I currently go entire days without leaving my bedroom, which is exactly the amount of interaction I want with the outside world. Now that my employer has realized they can get the best of me (my work) without seeing the worst of me (my face), it’s possible they’ll leave me at home permanently. Or call me into the office tomo…
