After-work road trips are naively ambitious. Sure, I can totally do a full shift at my day job, load up my van, and then drive across multiple states with my family. The only problem with that scenario is reality. Transporting my crew any distance requires tying up a million tiny odds and ends. Clothes have to be packed. Devices have to be charged. An entire zoo’s worth of animals has to be accommodated so they don’t starve to death or die of dehydration while we’re gone. For some reason, I always think I can take care of those things in an hour or less and be on the road by dinner time. My delusions are my only comfort in life.
