The daycare where we send our kids closed unexpectedly. Not permanently, just for the day, thank goodness. I can't think of anything worse than having to watch my own kids all the time. If their daycare ever actually closes for good, you won’t read about it in an email. You’ll just hear me sobbing.
For the daycare to close unexpectedly even for a day takes a minor catastrophe. They’re usually open no matter what. If we get two feet of snow, they still open their doors unless the county bans all non-emergency vehicles from the roads. In the eight years we’ve been sending our kids there, that’s only happened once. If Godzilla ever attacks, I still fully expect to be able to drop off my kids at daycare on my way to work. The economy depends on it. If that daycare closes even for twenty-four hours, two hundred working parents can’t go to their jobs.
