I did it: I went out and did things with my kids for a third weekend in a row. This is unprecedented. When it comes to my children, any idea I try to implement usually goes out the window after the first sixty seconds. Most of raising kids is just a race to see who can give up the fastest. Usually, it’s me.
This weekend, we went to Chicago. For those of you who have been reading my newsletter for a while, you might remember my two adventures there last year to promote, Bare Minimum Parenting: The Ultimate Guide to Not Quite Ruining Your Child. Those times, I had to go downtown, where Chicago roads are stacked on top of each other in confusing and nonsensical combinations that render GPS useless. Sometimes, the only way to avoid gridlock is to create tomorrow’s dystopia today. I vowed I would never again drive there, at least not until I became a more confident driver or researched Chicago’s roads more thoroughly. I did neither. Instead, I asked Lola to drive.
