Two weeks ago, I wrote about how our daycare closed for a single day due to the weather. The event wasn’t really that big of a deal, but I described it in no uncertain terms as the worst thing to happen on this planet since the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs. Although I guess you could view that asteroid as a good thing if you were rooting for the mammals, but, let’s be honest, we’ve never really lived up to our full potential. Regardless, a temporary daycare closing was the worst case scenario I could ever envision in my lifetime, and I hoped it would never happen again. Well, folks, the unthinkable happened: The daycare is closing permanently. Now is a good time to panic.
In hindsight, there were ominous signs this might happen, but, like the check engine light in my van, I assumed that if I ignored them for long enough, the problem would go away.
