Brunch is just Second Breakfast for Hobbits and people who like to eat… including myself. Although often a big brunch will lead to a lighter lunch and lite supper (not dinner if its light)….

Best. Meal. Ever. A good brunch will hold you all day. Alcohol may intensify this effect.

Science agrees. Alcohol intensifies everything.

Speaking as the person who would be cooking, I'd much rather get it ready for 10:00 than 7:00.

This makes entirely too much sense.

I’m wondering if part of your lack of interest in brunch is a result of your personal diet. You pretty much just eat meat, right? (Does that include fish?) Do you eat fruit/veges? And I think you don’t do carbs? So you’ve sort of eliminated all of what is best about brunches -- the fabulous bread buffets with multiple types of croissants and pastries, several different breads, etc. And the interesting marinated vegetables...the exotic fruits ...the odds and ends that you don’t always find at other meals...including dessert! (Dessert is not *normally* included with breakfast, right?). And often you get ethnic variety that you wouldn’t normally have at one meal - maybe there are quesadillas (Mexico)...and paella (Spain)...and a pasta dish (Italy)...and sushi (Japan) or an Asian section. Hmm, I love brunch, but I guess that is clear now? Best brunch ever is at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California -- they have hundreds of items (including a decorate your own donut section) at their Sunday brunch. I’m something of a brunch connoisseur...and that one blew my mind.

I 100% agree on this take. I’ve yet to learn about a Rodizio style brunch based of meat so I might guess it is not your cup of tea.

Brunch is the best! All the options! I love it because I’m a night owl/late sleeper. Any meal with so-called breakfast foods is for me! Breakfast for dinner is wonderful! The alcohol aspect isn’t the draw for me. Although, an occasional mimosa is nice.

We use it as a substitution for both breakfast and lunch as Nature intended. 😉

Brunch for me is too much food for breakfast and too soon in the day for lunch. I also don't want to pay a whole bunch of money for food that is gonna bloat me out for the rest of the day. So let's just say having brunch is nothing I'd miss. If you offered me the same foods at "SUPPER" time, I'm sure I'd enjoy it because hey, I have no will power when it comes to portion control.

You said "supper," the forbidden word. Are you also from farm country?

You bet! Farm families in southeastern Illinois abound in my family for many generations.

James you would li be The Full English breakfast.

I like the idea of Brunch in the UK. Pancakes and Bacon are not part of the English Breakfast so brunch is mostly the only time to get them so I’ll take it gratefully.

Many places in the UK do ‘bottomless brunch’, which is basically an excuse to start drinking earlier and drink quickly. My daughters (28, 30, 34) are huge fans of this. It often gets messy. You have been warned.

But don’t get me started on Afternoon Tea. A very overpriced plate of sandwiches and cake. (Bottomless versions popular amongst the girls too).

This sounds dangerous and delightful. I might very well eat myself to death. Worth it.

I love afternoon tea, too!

Brunch is an excuse to drink in the morning and should only be indulged on special occasions…although for my family it’s the perfect compromise because dad likes lunch and mom lives breakfast and they both like to eat those meals between 10:30 and 11am

Brunch is breakfast with societally-sanctioned day drinking - what could possibly be wrong with that? :D 😁

Love brunch... I can have the best of both lunch & breakfast, and then a light dinner. I get to sleep in, and I get 2 meals in a day instead of 3.

Brunch is ok. It never rang my enjoyment bell. I don’t drink so that part is meh. But the thing I think turns me off the most is there are just too many choices. It’s just overwhelming, add in the waiting in long lines and it’s just to much. Golly! I sound like a fuss bucket!

I love brunch, especially with champagne- (or Prosecco-)based drinkies. I tend towards the breakfast-y end of the menu spectrum because breakfast is the best meal ever!

I prefer brunch, but on the light side. Too many breakfast foods are just sugar and my stomach has to be awake for awhile to find that exciting. Also, breakfast just starts too early, so I sleep until 10 or so, get up, wake up, then eat around 11 or noon or 1. Sometimes at 3. I don't know if that's linner or dunch. Or maybe lupper.
