I saw the picture you posted yesterday, so obviously you made it to your seats. I'd love an update on Friday, even if it's just a mention in the main story of whatever you decide to write about.

I've never been to a pro football game so when I see it on TV (which is seldom because I don't particularly understand the game rules like I do other sports), I always ask MrP why the fans NEVER SHUT UP. The whole game is one big constant noise bomb even when nothing appears to be going on. If I did actually go to one, I would be wondering why they celebrate after every play, no matter if it's a touchdown or if they gained 5 yards. Oh, and how long the line is to get nachos. But it's worth at least one experience for your girls to see just how nuts people get. Or better yet, it can be a life lesson in how to use binoculars.

And c'mon, your Colts cannot be more hopeless than Da Bears, which makes MrP mad about every time they play. I honestly wonder why he continues to watch but as they say, hope springs eternal.

How did it go?? NFL fangirl here and I still talk about the rare NFL (Bills) games my parents took me to as a teen. And I believe the Colts pulled out a win, right?

My prediction is you did NOT avoid spending more money at the concession stand than you did for parking.

I always feel good when paying the service fee, knowing my money is going to a good and worthy cause, boosting our economy as a whole and generally supporting a better society.

We don't care about football except when Green Bay* or Kansas City are playing. We care about Green Bay because we used to live there and knew most of the 80s players and coaches. Working for an airline has its benefits. It's a great town and we'd love to move back. We never bothered trying to get tickets because Lambeau Field is pretty much sold out until the heat death of the Universe. If there were seats open, they'd be in the vicinity of Mars.

We care about Kansas City because we live in the godforsaken state of MO and our son-in-law is a rabid fan. My wife sort of follows Buffalo and New England because she and her enormous family live around Rochester NY. I swear she's related to about a thousand people in that area in some way.

*And anyone playing the Bears or Vikings. 😉

Saw your post on X. Did you take binoculars? That makes a difference.

Of course the Colts would win a meaningless game. Did you stay for overtime? I am looking forward to hearing the family's exploits of their first NFL game.

When we would take my kids to Dodger games, the oldest would not leave before the last out. His younger brother wanted to leave once he was full. Usually by the 5th inning!

My family and I feel pretty similar when it comes to my team and my city.

Just like you, we live in a village that's a distant suburb north of Kraków and have plenty of parking spaces, whereas the city centre is a paid parking zone with almost every available space filled with cars. Which is why this excerpt "The city expects me to pay money to park my vehicle. That’s highly offensive to a dedicated suburbanite such as myself. Where I live, there’s no place I could pay to park, even if I wanted to. We have more free parking spaces than people, like God intended." is 100% relatable for me!

When it comes to sports we follow and teams we support, there is freedom of choice in all except Soccer. It's a national sport here, but also a huge cause of animosities. The entire nation is united in rooting for the national team (though not without criticism and scepticism), but on the club level the tribalism-like identity is more than evident. Luckily, the hooligans' groups are less visible than several years ago. As for my family, thanks to my dad being a devout fan, we all are more or less passionate fans of Wisła Kraków. When my brother once said he's gonna root for local or further rivals like respectively Cracovia or Lech Poznań, dad joked he'll be "facing disinheritance".
