About themes: I found that everything about party planning (for kids at least) was so much easier once a theme was chosen! Happy birthday, Waffle!

There are folks who live to throw a party. And it ain't me. I've enjoyed some really nice parties over the years, but hosting one gives me the shudders even though we did once or twice. I'm great at helping, tho. I just want to go to one that I can leave when I'm ready rather than having to wait until that last guest leaves too late. I hope Waffle (and you) enjoys her special day!

I feel worse if people leave too early. I don't mind the lingering guests. They give me an excuse to keep eating way too much food. Hence why I double in size after every party.

I forgot you are still young and can stay up later than us. I even shoo my kids to call it a night....the ole man and I need to get to bed!

....and that’s why I don’t throw parties. Hell, I only go to them when I’m guilted to. No thank you, I’ll be hiding in my craft room, LOL. Happy Birthday Waffle!

That's an excellent place to hide out. You can make an elaborate card expressing your regrets for not being able to attend. Maximum efficiency.

I would assume Waffle, being Waffle, totally adores a birthday all to herself! She is such a stand-out in so many ways, and doesn’t seem to “go with the flow”: She makes her own river!😜

And if you want to truly impress your guests, yesterday at Walmart, I discovered they now have fruit cake ice cream. It will at least save you buying more than one container LOL

Here's one more suggestion if you really must have a party at your house - have another one the next day. The house is already cleaned of your personal messes, there is always leftover food you can't stomach eating again and you can invite the people that got left out of the first one. Those two parties will absolve you of any obligatory parties for another year.

To take care of the cooking issue, depending on the reason for the party, my friends and I typically do some kind of potluck. The hosts provide the meat/main dish, everyone else brings sides/desserts/BYOB. If it's something like a birthday party that probably won't work, but for a more normal get together, it's great!

👍…completely agree 😉

🎈Happy Birthday to Waffle!! 🎂 While I think your list is fairly accurate, I LOVE hosting parties (and thank goodness, at least one of my kids likes when I do, AND offers to help). You missed polishing all the silver... but I guess for a 7-year old’s party, that part isn’t necessary. I have all the fine linens, silver, crystal, etc. that were my mother’s and grandmother’s, and love getting to use them in all their glory!

ROFL hilarious!!! As I laughed through each paragraph, I thought to myself, “Wow, it can’t get funnier than this” - but it gets even funnier!

Happy birthday blessings, Waffle!

I'm having flashbacks! Birthday parties were stressful, but the kids always had a good time.

I make too much food on the regular; add more people and I spiral out of control!

First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Waffle!

Your list sounds vaguely like my life except for friends and family. In the meantime, enjoy your time. Thank you,

Mike

If you have to exclude one part of the list, cutting out friends and family aren't a bad way to go. That should really free up your social calendar.

The most accurate description of party planning ever. Happy birthday to Waffle! Does she like having her own special day or does she wish to be a part of the spring birthday trio?

She enjoys having the day all to herself. She made out like a bandit in the present department.
