I have always thought Betsy was your spittin' image, but then we don't see photos of Lola that often to discount her genes. I'd say Betsy therefore is definitely a combo of you both. I know we didn't spend that much money on our daughter's Prom but then she opted for a decently priced gown without all the sequins/beads that make them really expensive. We were actually thrilled to see her in a fancy dress - a softball catcher's uniform and a drummer's uniform was the best we could get out of her for many years. And curly hair was a long way from her catcher's mask and the drummer's hat and plume. So you may get lucky - or at least with a couple of the girls. It will be fun to see how they mature. And I'm here getting verklempt thinking back to some of the biggest nights of our daughter's life. Glad Miss Betsy had a great time in the first of many biggees yet to come!

Does "verklempt" have something to do with the german word (meaning kind of uptight)? Or what does it mean in English? In total, I'm absolutely with you! The new format is great and I hope all of your kids enjoy those firsts (while I'm leaning back comfortably, sipping some wine and enjoying said firsts by proxy. I'm glad I'm of an age where it counts as "dressing up" if I wear a bra.) Now I'm figuring out how subscribing works.

I always thought it was a Yiddish word/expression but I use verklempt to mean "overcome with emotion" or "choked up".
