Now you know where the ghost of your old van went!

That was my first thought, too!

Florida reader here, and we'd love to invite you down, but there's no way in hell I'd ever own a boat. It's ALWAYS better to have friends with boats than to own a boat yourself. Ditto pools.

Let me know when you find your Florida boat/pool friend and I'll invite myself over.

My favorite type of boating is standing on dry land and watching others in their boats.

That would let me be my two favorite things: dry and warm.

Ah, Wisconsin! Cool and crisp is how I remember it. We had a couple of family vacations there when I was a kid. Stayed in a cabin on a lake but only had to deal with a row boat and horses and neither of those broke down. Perhaps all the mechanical problems stuff goes along with you wherever you go, like Pigpen's cloud of dust of Peanuts fame?

We would have found a way to break the row boat.

WAZE is much better than google maps.

I might have to switch. Google Maps clearly has it out for me.

And WAZE has cool voices to choose from.😎

Why yes, I am a Florida subscriber. The water is warm, so choose your type, fresh water with alligators or salt water with sharks.

Hmmm. I'm guessing Lake Winnebago. I used to live up that way. And yes, I've seen snow flurries in July "up dere in da Nortwoods."

It is indeed "the" lake. All other lakes are but ponds by comparison.

I also have proof AI are rebelling, Google maps and waze in Corsica made us make a 1 hour long CIRCLE and wanted us to do more circles when we just had to turn around... nice 1 hour drive into the maquis though 😄

It's so much less dramatic than the Terminator movies, yet so much more expensive with current gas prices.

We live in Texas. No boat, but we do have a pool that’s a year old. Give us a holler if you’re in the Dallas area

I'll be in Amarillo for a convention in August, but I assume that's 95 hours from Dallas since everything is a thousand miles apart there.

Expand full comment

Close. Dallas is 365 miles (5+ hours fastest)from Dallas and Waxahachie is 28 miles from Dallas. That can be 30 minutes or over an hour, depending. So, yeah, 95 hours is pretty close.

To be fair... it's really easy to miss exits in Milwaukee...

Milwaukee just wants people to stay.

Despite the breakdowns, sounds like a fun weekend. Looking forward to reading about the house. I love boats, but hubby’s not a fan of being on the water, so I only wish for friends with boats (and we live in a harbor town!).

It was a great weekend because I didn't have to pay to fix any of the breakdowns.
