First, those cakes are amazing. I made a Pokeball cake once so I know how tedious decorating them can be. Same with the Squishmallow. My shoulder basically locked from being in one position long enough to do the decorating.

Second, if you need a surprise guest next year try 23 and Me. I've found an aunt I never knew about (Grandpa believed in spreading the love if you get my meaning) and a cousin I haven't seen in 40 years. It could add some drama to next year's party.

I'm too frightened to look into it for real. I come from a very long line of very fertile people. I might be related to literally everyone.

Wow LOLA! Those cakes are amazing

I appreciate the pic of Harry and his kids. Because up until now, I could not see a reference to Harry without an immediate visual image of a taxidermied bear dressed to the nines!

Thanks to Harry for his service. I’m guessing he is at Travis or if he is at Beale he probably lives near me. I’ve done one cake like Lola’s and still been frosting it as guests arrive. But 3 gives her supermom status. Do you have any idea how much money she saved by doing those by herself? It’s enough to put one of the girls through college. Congratulations on surviving the triple birthday party.

That's a good point about the money saved. If we had to pay full bakery prices for them, we would have served Rice krispie treats instead.

Love love love what Lola can do with cakes -- well done!!

I’m laughing...saw the comment below about Harry’s kids being cute. They are (I went back and looked), but I was admiring the baby “shelves.” I was big into baby carriers when mine were small (until about age 4!!), and somewhere have a picture of me wearing three of them...because what else do you do at 5am when your toddler AND two newborns are all awake? (One on my back in a soft structured carrier, one on my front in a soft structured carrier (straps overlapping), and one on my hip in a sling).

So glad the party was a success, even if guests fell asleep. That’s better than leaving without cake! Happy birthday to Betsy, Mae and Lucy!

Way to go, Lola! I was scrolling slowly through them and stopped at the second picture for the longest time trying to figure out how she got that icing to look so much like fake fur. I'm a ditz. Loved Harry's daddness!

I pondered which order to put the cake in the stuffed animal in because of this exact scenario. Now I can see that I chosen correctly.

Lola is an impressive home baker. 🎂

I'd love to spend an evening buying Harry some beers while we swap aviation lies, I mean stories. 🛫

And that's not selective amnesia, that's traumatic memory repression! 😆

Three cakes for three birthdays! What a coup de cake! beautiful.

I'm scheming to come up with more cake occasions so she'll make them more often.

Birthday cakes were fantastic! Big congrats to Lola!!

She loves making them, but she's also very glad the triple birthday party only comes once a year.

I love your family stories. Whether about you and your siblings or your kids, they hit home for me. Love them!!❤️

I found a bunch of cake decorating tools the other day, still in their unopened original boxes. Evidently I had hopes of making my daughter some fancy cakes like my mom had made for me when I was a youngster. They were fru-fru colorful dresses with a big full skirt on a doll about the size of a Barbie. They could have won prizes as they were not flat but like they had a hoop underneath. Once again, one of my mom's talents didn't pass down to me. I am willing to exchange those tools for my own personalized Lola Cake for my birthday. It's not until November so she'll have plenty of time to rest before then.

I am in love with MasterChunk! I want to reach out and squeeze those legs of his. Congrats on a successful great birthday party (well, except for BreakwellDog).

The size of that massive baby was pretty much the sole topic of conversation that whole weekend. As for cakes, it's never too late to learn. I promise everyone around you will be delighted to eat your training attempts.

Never too late to learn! I'm waiting for grandkids to try and hone my cake decorating skills (never mind that this event will be years away).

Wish I could have been there! I feel like your family are relatives now.. certainly I have actual family I dont hear from as frequently nor in as much detail. Of course, I pay to subscribe to your family journal. Perhaps I should offer that to my biological relatives?

That just might work. Once they're hooked on your story, they'll be more likely to show up in person. Or to forever keep a safe distance.

Lola did an amazing job on those cakes! It would have been so much easier to just buy the things but she’s a good mom who has more than her hands full with kids, work, and, of course, you. I would have excused myself to hide in the backyard behind some bushes personally. I hate crowds and that included family ones. I go down to see my sister but I take on all her kids and grandkids, some of which live next door. In that case, when it gets to be too much, I hide in her craft/bedroom. She knows when I disappear it means I’ve had it. I even have ear plugs AND a sleep mask. Don’t hear you, don’t see you, your not there. Anyway, huzza for another great party. I can tell by your writings going up to, and today, that you actually had a great time. Thanks for sharing the picture of Paul, those fanny pack are awesome.

I did indeed have a great time. But I'm also perpetually grateful that it's finally over.

Wow, hats off to both Lola & Harry (thanks for his service), they truly are Legends!

It's wonderful to hear the TBP wrapped up perfectly.

And if you need a special guest for next year, than I can volunteer ;) (even though at first glance I may appear totally odd and boring).

We just have to come up with a relative status that no one understands. How about third cousin twice removed?

For me it sounds perfect!

Yay! I told you it would be EPIC! I’m happy to know it was a total success!

Top-tier cakes by Lola once again. She is the MVP of the party.

I come from a large family too, and as a child I would say hello to everyone and then hide in a corner with a book. Now I have the party house. And it's rude to run away from your guests.....
