I just pre-ordered and plan to read, then donate to my library (unless I can’t bear to part with it). I love the message and can’t wait to find out the twist.
I have 3 grandsons, 15y,10y and 6m, none of whom fall in the "age range" of your latest book. Do you think that held me back from pre-ordering your latest? H3LL no! I cannot wait to read it to my littlest one!
Since I started following you (before Waffle came along), I have always wanted to tell you that only very, very special parents are given 4 daughters! (I only have 3d, 1s)! I have laughed and agreed many times over the years. Just to be honest, I, too, am a Waffle!
In a way, that gives me hope. If you can grow up to be a productive member of society, maybe so can she. Unless you're not a productive member of society at all. You're not a super villain, are you?
Super villain? Depends who you ask! My kids all think I was super strict, so if you ask them... I'm retired now, but, when I was still working, well, let's just say, my middle name was trouble! (And, I wore it proudly!)
I have a daughter who is a teacher of autistic students. One of their slogans is "Different but not less" so your book sounds very apropos. I will be giving the book I just ordered to her for reading to/with them. Congrats on the publishing of your new book!
Exciting!! No readers in the target age group in my house...but I’ll buy a copy anyway, as I’ve always enjoyed collecting kids books. Better signed - so I’ll order from Main Street :-) Glad to hear they’re still going strong after losing their leader last year.
Ordered it for my son's four kids, boy (10), girl (5), boy (3), and boy (2). My daughter-in-law sends me pics of his reading to the younger three all the time.
I just forwarded this to my daughter who has a kid still young enough to like books like yours. If you don't mind sharing, what kicked off this particular book, James?
I know the children's market is notoriously hard for authors. Best of luck!
Every once in a while, I'm just in a flying reptile sort of mood. You're right about the difficulty of the children's book market. I was very fortunate to get a toe in the door.
OOOH! I got my copy last week!! I cannot wait to read it to my grands! I love it! I'm buying another copy for my niece who teaches 1st grade. Thank you so much!
Well… well done James! Your sales pitch worked on me. I ordered two of your books: The Chosen Twelve and You can(t) be a pterodactyl! Not sure how I’m going to handle more of your writing…but I’m strong! Lol 😂
Congratulations on the new release! I only get things done as a deadline becomes imminent; panic is my muse.
My home does not have any age appropriate readers, but I will buy a couple of copies for the local libraries.
Thanks! And your description is exactly why I have a love/hate relationship with deadlines.

Thanks! Sounds like the book would definitely be a good fit for them.

Thanks! I hope you don't hear too many pterodactyl screeches when they come over to visit.
They love dinosaurs and do much growling. The younger three have matching dinosaur jackets.
Can’t wait to read it!!

Congrats on the release! The book sounds great. My youngest would love it -- her name is Farah and she shrieks a lot, so we call her "Farah-dactyl."
Huge achievement - well done.
Congrats! That's SO exciting. Sounds like an amazing book.
Yay!
Congratulations
I’m also happy that the publishing house’s merge did not end in Random Penguin House.
Again congratulations on your book release.

Congratulations! Sounds like lots of fun. Will have to find a kid to give it to.
KIRKUS - That is BIG! Congratulations and well-deserved.
It's not the kind of thing that will ever impress my parents, but it's pretty good to people who are in the know.
